GRAINS OF FOOD IN THE DIRT

Malawi, Central Africa … Each day that passes brings an even deeper pit of pain, suffering and starvation. Harvest is a long way away and as hunger worsens hope grows dim for help to arrive in time for many.

No mother or father wants to hear his or her children crying at night from lack of food.

No wife wants to see her husband go into the field each morning without any food to eat.

No husband wants his wife to suffer hunger pains while he helplessly watches from the sidelines.

No schoolteacher wants to see children coming to school who obviously are starving.

No one, no one, wants to see children scouring the dirt to pick up a few grains of food. Yet that is what is happening.

The children sitting near a site of recent food distribution are sorting through the dirt in order to find a few pieces of grain to carry home for the family to eat.
